Key Formula
Combines three elements: how often a team launches counter-attacks (the biggest factor), what proportion of their attacks are genuinely dangerous, and how quickly they win the ball back to start those transitions. When specific counter-attack data is unavailable for a league, the dangerous attack ratio still provides useful information on its own.
Normalization
Each element is compared against the typical range seen across all teams. When counter-attack or ball recovery data is not available, those elements are treated as average rather than excluding the signal entirely, so the system can still provide a directional assessment.
Confidence Impact
Requires at least 5 matches per team with attack data — below this, the signal is excluded. Uncertainty has a 0.15 base plus a sample size penalty of 0.40 / √(average matches). Each team missing counter-attack data adds +0.15 uncertainty. Stale data (>30 days) adds +0.10. The signal degrades gracefully: it can fire using only the dangerous attack ratio when counter-attack data is absent.
